About the Book

After the election of Donald Trump in 2016, a president elected without winning the popular vote, our country’s figurehead became a man with an affinity for racism, misogyny, homophobia, white supremacy, etc., with no regards to the cruelty that is inherent in each. America is better than that. And then the country witnessed Trump becoming Putin’s puppet, believing a maniacal, murdering dictator over the United States’ own National Security personnel. And every other day came a new abomination, only to be replaced with another outrage at a rate that even the press couldn’t keep up. The parallel to Hitler’s rise became so stark that many felt the need to sound a clarion call.

Curt Strickland

Curt Strickland is a Boston playwright currently working on a ten-play saga on America, each set in a different decade. Curt is also a landscape photographer, and a former owner at Great American Art, one of the largest commercial art corporations in the nation. Curt believes that art should serve to heal, inspire, provoke, challenge, and to offer hope—but, most of all, to connect and remind us of our common humanity. Curt recently was awarded the William Faulkner Literary Playwriting prize for his full-length play, "1968." In 2020, Curt received a double lung transplant, an event that had profound effects on both his writing and his life. This experience is the basis of a new play he is developing entitled "Double Lung."
